West Virginia Turnpike

The West Virginia Turnpike[1] is I-77 for its entire length as well as I-64 from Charleston to just south of Beckley. From Beckley, the road extends south to Princeton. West Virginia Turnpike offers discount programs for both personal and commercial vehicles. West Virginia toll calculator does not take discounts into account.

How are tolls calculated for trucks in West Virginia

Tolls for trucks in West Virginia are calculated based on the number of axles on the truck, the type of vehicle, and whether the truck is using an E-ZPass transponder. Trucks can use E-ZPass to pay tolls in West Virginia. E-ZPass users receive a discount on the base toll rate. Tolls can also be paid by mail or online. However, these methods do not offer a discount. How to pay toll in West Virginia

You can pay tolls on West Virginia Turnpike via E-ZPass, WV E-Zpass or a NationalPass tag transponders or with cash.

The two toll bridges: Parkersburg Memorial Bridge and Newell Bridge accepts cash for toll payment. Neither of the toll bridges accept electronic payment through E-ZPass or any other tags.

There are three (3) mainline toll plazas on the West Virginia Turnpike. They are located at Chelyan (Toll Plaza C) at milepost 83, Pax (Toll Plaza B) at milepost 56, and Ghent (Toll Plaza A) at milepost 30. How to pay missed toll in West Virginia

In West Virginia, a toll violation occurs when-

  • A vehicle is recorded by the West Virginia Parkways Authority for failure to pay the specified toll using cash or an E-ZPass® account.
  • If the driver receives an Unpaid Toll Slip from a collector and does not pay within the 15 days allowed.

In such a case the registered owner of the vehicle is mailed a Toll Violation Notice for the tolls and fees due.

How can a toll violation payment be made in West Virginia

If you wish to pay by credit card, you may contact the West Virginia Parkways Authority Customer Service Center by calling 1-800-206-6222 or you can go online[2].

Alternatively, you can make a check or money order payable to West Virginia Parkways Authority and mail it along with the completed portion of the Toll Violation Notice to West Virginia Parkways Authority[3], Customer Service Center, P.O. Box 1469, Charleston WV 25325.

What is E-ZPass WV

The E-ZPass WV, just like an E-ZPass tag, is a tag transponder that allows you to pay tolls electronically on West Virginia Turnpike. Altough E-ZPass is also valid on these toll roads but a E-ZPass WV offer lower rates.

With an E-ZPass WV installed in your vehicle, you need not need to stop to pay toll. The transponder is mounted on your vehicle’s windshield. When you travel on any toll road, thruway, tunnel or bridge, the transponder charges your E-ZPass WV account for the appropriate toll.

What if you don't pay a toll in West Virginia

In such a case the registered owner of the vehicle is mailed a Toll Violation Notice for the tolls and fees due.

What is the Single Fee Discount Plan

The West Virginia Parkways offers the Single Fee Discount Plan to Individual Account E-ZPass Customers. The Single Fee Discount Plan gives unlimited travel across the entire WV Turnpike for a period of one year from date of purchase. The plan is valid for toll class 1 vehicles.
