== Tyne toll tunnel ==
Tyne Tunnels<ref>[https://www.tt2.co.uk/ Tyne Tunnels]</ref> are 2-lane vehicular toll tunnels and run under the River Tyne in North East England.

The 7 mile toll tunnels connect the town of Jarrow on the south bank of the river with North Shields and Howdon on the northern end. Tyne Tunnels go downstream to the east of Newcastle upon Tyne and form part of the A19 road.

The Tyne tunnels Toll Calculator calculates toll and tolls for all other toll motorways, roads, bridges and tunnels in UK for cars, trucks, trailers, caravans, motorhomes and motorcycles for peak and off-peak hours.

== Tyne Tunnel toll charges ==

Each of the Tyne Tunnels have a separate toll booth that is located on the north side of the Tyne. For vehicles travelling northbound the toll is to be paid after passing through the tunnels. South bound vehicles are to pay before entering the tunnels. There is no toll for motorbikes and vehicles with a disabled registration.

An online application is to be submitted for a Tyne Tunnel permit. Once the application is processed, a tag will be received to fix the windscreen of the vehicle. As the vehicle approaches the toll lane tunnel, the toll system identifies the tag and confirms that the account has sufficient credit, after which the barrier will be raised to allow a pass-through. Cash will have to be paid if the account has insufficient credit.
