All the Belgian motorways are free for motorbikes, passenger cars, and other vehicles with a total weight of up to 3.5 tonnes. Most of the toll roads in Belgium have a 0 (zero) tariff for vehicles with a total weight exceeding 3.5 tonnes. The Belgium Government introduced their HGV Transit Toll, (also called the Belgian Kilometre charging system) from 1st April 2016, replacing the Eurovignette[1] system. The government fixes toll tariffs on toll roads and Viapass[2] supervises the Belgium toll road system.

Trucks, HGV, and vehicles with Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) exceeding 3.5 tonnes of weight and N1 category vehicles with a body code BC - semi-trailer tractors of 3.5 tons or less - are liable to pay tolls in Belgium. To pay tolls in Belgium, one must have an On Board Unit (OBU)[3] that is constantly switched on (shows a green light).
Toll tariffs in Belgium depend on:
- The maximum permissible weight.
- The emission class of the vehicle.
- The region of travel (Wallonia, Flanders, Brussels highway, and Brussels urban area).
- The distance traveled (in kilometers) on the tolled road.
Vignettes are no longer accepted in Belgium.

Where can I buy a Belgium toll box
There are three methods to get a Belgium OBU in Belgium and the neighboring countries (France, Luxembourg, Germany and Netherlands).
Online method to get Belgium toll box
- You need to register yourself at Road User Portal.[4]
- Order the OBU online through Road User Portal and get free delivery within 2-5 working days.
Offline method to get Belgium toll box
- Find the nearest Service Point. These Service points can be found near the border crossings and everywhere in Belgium.[5]
- Get the OBU using a service point account.

Cost of getting the OBU is free, however a caution money of 135 € has to be paid which will get refunded once OBU is returned in undamaged shape. Some service providers may include this charge in the subscription fee.

While registering for OBU, the provider will let you choose your preferred payment method. Most of them provide prepaid and postpaid choices and can be paid via credit cards, debit cards, cash and toll cards specific to the agency. You can contact your OBU provider for more details.
