No, electric and hybrid cars do not get free tolls across the Florida turnpike, express lanes and other toll facilities. Following the passage of Senate Bill 1662, Florida completely eliminated high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) privileges and toll-free perks for low-emission vehicles. All electric and hybrid vehicles must now pay standard toll rates across the state.
The state has officially closed the register for 95 Express Toll-Exemption program. South Florida Commuter Services is no longer accepting new applications or processing renewals. If you have an existing, previously approved decal, it will remain valid only until its current expiration date. Once it expires, you must use your SunPass transponder or another compatible pass to pay the standard dynamic tolls.
