Do electric cars pay tolls in California

Yes, electric cars have to pay tolls in California. However, if EV drivers apply for a Clean Air Vehicle (CAV) program, they can avail discounts.  

You can apply for one by filling the DMV’s CAV application and mailing it with a $22 check to them at:

As per your vehicle category, you’ll be provided with a decal. EVs (or CAVs) with orange, purple or red decals are eligible for discounted and toll-free travel.
