North Carolina toll roads

The Triangle Expressway[1] is the toll roads in North Carolina. The Triangle Expressway consists of two parts: The Triangle Parkway and the Western Wake Freeway. The Triangle Parkway extends from NC 147 in Durham County to NC 540 in Morrisville in Wake County. The Western Wake Freeway continues along to Holly Springs. You cannot use cash to pay tolls. You either need to install a Tag in your car to use the NC Quick Pass, or you can pay using Bill by Mail. Toll rates differ for each mainline and ramps depending on vehicle type, number of axles and mode of payment (NC Quick Pass/Bill by Mail).

How do I pay toll

Pay via NC Quick Pass or Bill By Mail[2] system. You can also use your E-ZPass. Cash is not allowed on any toll road in North Carolina.

How to pay missed toll in North Carolina

Travelers who do not have/use NC Quick Pass[4] pre-paid transponder while passing through NC tolls are charged for tolls by “Bill by Mail program”. Please note that, as per NC Quick Pass website, If the bill is not paid within 30 days from the date of the bill, the vehicle’s registered owner could incur fees, civil penalties, DMV registration holds and/or be turned over to a collection agency. Therefore, please plan to pay your bills on time.
