How to pay missed toll in Rhode Island

E-ZPass holders can view and pay E-ZPASS toll violations[1] in Rhode Island for the Newport Bridge online.

If you do not have cash or credit/debit card to pay the toll, no E-ZPass transponder in the vehicle, or an invalid E-ZPass transponder while going through the gated lanes at the Newport Pell Bridge, you have to fill a form on the spot.

Fine for non-payment of toll

  • On day 15 an additional $40.00 fee is added;
  • On day 46 an additional $35.00 fee is added;
  • If not paid at this point in time, the unpaid toll invoice could become a matter of the courts.


Payment can be done either by U.S. cash in person or by mailing a check payable to RITBA. The address would be:

If you have gone through the Open Road Tolling lanes and did not have an E-ZPass please call 1-877-743-9727 Monday-Friday 9:00am-6:00pm, Saturday 8:00am-1:00pm.

You may contact the Administration Office for assistance with unpaid toll invoices at 401-423-0800, Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm.

All disputes concerning the issuance of this Unpaid Toll Invoice has to be made in writing to the official address (provided above) within fourteen (14) days of the date of this Unpaid Toll Invoice.
