Do I Need FASTag for Telangana? 2026 Update

Yes, FASTag is mandatory for all four-wheelers and above in Telangana as per CMVR 1989 amendments. Vehicles without a valid, functional FASTag are not turned away at National Highway fee plazas, but they pay a higher fee, so an active FASTag is the cheapest and fastest way to travel.

Key Reality: FASTag is mandatory for all class M & N vehicles (four wheelers and above) w.e.f. 15th February 2021. Since 15th November 2025, a vehicle entering a National Highway fee plaza without a valid FASTag pays twice the applicable fee in cash, or 1.25 times the fee if it pays through UPI.

2026 Update: Annual toll revision on National Highways is effective from 1st April with fees rounded to nearest Rs 5. The FASTag Annual Pass fee for FY 2026-27 is Rs 3,075 (up from Rs 3,000), and ORR distance-based rates are revised every 1st April in line with the Wholesale Price Index.

Telangana has two tolling systems. National Highway fee plazas charge a fixed fee per vehicle class at each plaza, including Guduru, Chitlapalli, Raikal, Pullur, Sakapur, Pantangi, Koralapahad, Manoharabad, Bhiknoor, Indalwai, Mandamarri, Sarandi, Medipally, Singarenipalli and Alagapada. The Hyderabad Outer Ring Road charges by distance travelled between the entry and exit interchange.
